Numbers in Punjabi (0-100)

While growing up and learning Punjabi counting was my least favorite part of it. I have to admit, it still is. It just feels like a bunch of confusing rhyming words but I figured there is some structure to it. Few numbers have to be memorized but after that, there's a pattern. Today I'll share that with you. In this blog post I'll focus on 0-100. 0-20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 99, 100 has to be memorized. These have to be memorized because the prefix and root of these numbers will be used to build upon.  ਸਿਫ਼ਰ /sifr/ 0 Zero     ਇਕ /ik/ 1 One ਗਿਆਰਾਂ /giārāñ/ 11 Eleven ਤੀਹ /t ī h/ 30 Thirty ਦੋ /do/ 2 Two ਬਾਰਾਂ /b ā r ā ñ / 12 Twelve ਚਾਲੀ /ch ā l ī / 40 Forty ਤਿੰਨ /tin/ 3 Three ਤੇਰਾਂ /ter ā ñ / 13 Thirteen ਪੰਜਾਹ /pa ñ j ā h/ 50 Fifty ਚਾਰ /ch ā r/ 4 Four ਚੌਦਾਂ /
